A Note on Fragrance, Summer 21

I vividly remember wearing Miss Dior throughout college. At the time I bought it, it felt very posh and feminine. It was certainly a step up from my Bath and Body Works sprays (remember those?). But to be honest, I made the splurge for a purpose. It was right before our college Spring formal (yes, my college was cool like that) and this very attractive man friend, who I was maybe not so secretly obsessed with, was going to the spring dance with my friends and me. I suppose a small part of me thought I could woo him with my perfume.

That guy and I are married now, and while I don't think I owe our marriage to the perfume, Miss Dior still evokes fond memories of the early days of our friendship. In fact, I still have that original bottle in the back of my cabinet to re-visit now and then, I just can't bring myself to throw it away.

Fragrances are truly memories, a way of preserving a moment in time while at the same time enhancing our sense of self.

As I'm making this year's final Summer memories, I'm reaching for scents that are easy and elegant. I like fragrances that work whether it's a weekend at the beach or a summer wedding, I want them to be easy, just like Summer.

Below is a mix of my personal favorites along with others on my list to try. I hope you have all made some wonderful memories this summer.
